Uttar Pradesh ODOP Marketing Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme: Get 75% of Your Fair and Exhibition Costs Reimbursed

A practical guide for artisans, weavers, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs who want to take their district’s product to bigger markets.

Uttar Pradesh is full of skilled makers: weavers, potters, metal workers, leather craftspeople, and food producers whose products carry the identity of their districts. Many of them struggle with one problem: reaching larger buyers costs money. Stall rent, freight, and travel add up quickly. The ODOP Marketing Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme was designed to take that burden off producers. This post explains what the scheme offers, who can apply, and how to claim your money.

What Is the ODOP MDA Scheme?

The MDA Scheme is part of the Uttar Pradesh Government’s One District One Product (ODOP) programme, which picks one signature product from each district to promote. It began as the “One District One Product Marketing Promotion” scheme, with the aim of helping artisans and entrepreneurs get fair prices through better marketing. It is implemented by the state’s MSME and Export Promotion Department through the Directorate of Industries, in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME and NSIC.

In simple terms, the state reimburses up to 75% of eligible marketing expenses when you showcase and sell your ODOP product at fairs, exhibitions, buyer-seller meets, or on e-commerce platforms.

What Happens After You Apply?

Your district’s District Industries and Enterprise Promotion Centre (DIC) scrutinises the claim. If a detail or document is missing, the application is sent back to you. Log in, fix it, and resubmit. Claims are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability of funds.

Timeline to Remember

There is no single annual last date. Instead, you must submit your claim within 120 days, not counting the month in which the fair or activity ended. Keep this in mind when you return from an event, because a late claim can cost you the entire reimbursement.

Tips to Make Your Claim Successful

  • Keep every bill and receipt. Stall fee receipts, freight bills, and tickets are the proof the department asks for.
  • Showcase only ODOP products at your stall.
  • Do not wait. Start your claim soon after the event, so you stay within the 120-day window and ahead of fund limits.
  • Plan within the caps. Know the ceiling for your type of event before you pay for a stall or book a flight.
  • Track your application and respond quickly if the DIC reverts it.
  • Use official channels only. Never pay an agent to apply for you.
