Tamil Nadu Milch Animal Loan Scheme: Benefits, Eligibility and How to Apply

The Tamil Nadu Milch Animal Loan Scheme is a low-interest loan programme that helps families from Backward Classes (BC), Most Backward Classes (MBC) and Denotified Communities (DNC) buy milch animals and start a dairy unit. It is run by the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Economic Development Corporation Ltd. (TABCEDCO) with the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC). On the TABCEDCO portal, it appears as the “Milch Animal Scheme (Aavin)”.

Why It Matters

The scheme aims to turn dairy farming into a steady livelihood for economically weaker families. It gives them affordable credit instead of costly private loans, and because beneficiaries come from milk producer societies, they also get an assured market for their milk.

Key Benefits

  • Loan of up to ₹1.20 lakh
  • 7% interest per annum, repayable over three years
  • Covers a maximum of two milch animals (cows or buffaloes)
  • Beneficiary contributes only 5% of the project cost

Funding pattern: NBCFDC pays 85%, TABCEDCO pays 10%, and the beneficiary pays 5%.

This is a loan, not a subsidy or direct cash benefit. Details such as a DBT schedule, e-KYC or the exact disbursement method have not been officially announced, so confirm them with the lending cooperative.

Once the loan is sanctioned, you purchase the animals.

No official last date has been announced. Sanctions depend on fund availability and the committee’s recommendation.
