Rajasthan Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme: A Quick Overview

The Rajasthan Government launched the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme on 9 September 2022 to give wage employment to eligible people living in urban areas. It is run by the Department of Local Self Government.

Important Update: Scheme Renamed

The scheme has been renamed the Rajasthan Mukhyamantri Shahri Rojgar Guarantee Yojana. Applicants should check the official Rajasthan Government portal for the latest details, eligibility conditions and guidelines.

Key Benefits

• 100 days of guaranteed employment per household in a financial year
• Open to eligible household members aged 18 to 60 years
• Work on labour-intensive public projects in urban areas
• Wages credited to the worker’s bank account within 15 days
• Work provided within 15 days of a work request
• Worksite facilities: drinking water, first aid, shade in summer and display boards
• Estimated annual expenditure of ₹800 crore

What Kind of Work Is Covered?

• Environmental protection, such as tree planting and garden maintenance
• Water conservation, such as desilting ponds and repairing rainwater harvesting structures
• Cleanliness and sanitation, including solid waste management and cleaning drains and toilets
• Preventing property defacement, such as removing illegal hoardings and whitewashing walls
• Service work at gaushalas and urban local body offices
• Heritage conservation and other work assigned by the state

Job card holders are employed within their own area or ward of the urban local body.

Who Is Eligible?

• Resident of Rajasthan living within an urban local body area
• Aged 18 to 60 years
• Holds a valid Jan Aadhaar Card
• Family members selected must be able to do labour work

Documents Required

• Jan Aadhaar Card or Jan Aadhaar registration number
• Registered mobile number for OTP verification
• One identity document: Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, Ration Card or PAN Card

How to Apply

Step 1: Register on the Rajasthan SSO Portal

1. Log in with your SSOID (obtained through Jan Aadhaar OTP verification).
2. Select the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme section.
3. Enter your Jan Aadhaar number and verify the OTP.
4. Select eligible family members aged 18 to 60, accept the self-declaration and submit.
5. Download job cards for yourself and your family members.

Step 2: Apply for work on the scheme portal

1. Click “Apply for Work” and enter your Jan Aadhaar number.
2. Verify the OTP and select the eligible family members.
3. Submit the application. The department will contact you by phone with work.

The head of the family can get job cards for all eligible members using a single Jan Aadhaar Card, so separate applications are not needed.

Complaints

Complaints can be sent to the District Collector or registered through the toll-free number 181. They must be resolved within 7 days.
