CRPF Madadgaar: A 24×7 Helpline for People in Jammu & Kashmir and Kashmiris Living Elsewhere

When something goes wrong far from home, or in a place where help is hard to reach, the first problem is often just knowing whom to call. CRPF Madadgaar (“helper”) was set up to answer that. It is a round-the-clock public assistance and grievance helpline run by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The key numbers

  1. Toll-free helpline, 24×7: 14411
  2. WhatsApp and SMS: 7082814411
  3. Email: madadgaar@crpf.gov.in
  4. Alternate email: crpfmadadgaar@gmail.com
  5. Control room: 01933-224314
  6. Address: CRPF Zewan Camp, Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, UT of J&K, 191101

The CRPF Kashmir Operations Sector contact page also lists 1800-180-7112 / 222749 among the Madadgaar contacts. For the main public helpline, use 14411, which the dedicated Madadgaar page lists as the toll-free number.

Please save this first: Madadgaar is not an emergency service. In an immediate, life-threatening emergency, call the appropriate emergency service rather than relying only on a general assistance helpline.

What Madadgaar is, and is not

Madadgaar was launched on 16 June 2017 at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, by the then Governor of Jammu & Kashmir. It is meant to give people an easy way to raise concerns and to encourage closer, friendlier contact between the CRPF and the public.

It is not a regular welfare scheme. There is no fixed cash benefit, no beneficiary quota, no application form and no online registration. The type of help depends on the problem and on what the CRPF or the concerned authority can do. It is also different from the CRPF’s internal welfare programmes for its personnel, veterans and their families.

What kind of help is available

The helpline covers a wide range of public needs:

  1. Medical emergencies, including help reaching appropriate medical support
  2. Civic problems such as water, electricity and roads
  3. Women’s safety, harassment and domestic violence
  4. Help for tourists and pilgrims travelling in Jammu & Kashmir
  5. Drug counselling and de-addiction assistance
  6. Disasters, natural calamities and other difficult situations
  7. Information about CRPF and other force recruitment

Where needed, the helpline can connect you with the nearest CRPF unit or the concerned government authority. It does not replace the local administration or emergency services.

Who can use it

The service is mainly associated with people living in Jammu & Kashmir and with Kashmiris living or studying outside the Union Territory, including students and workers. Tourists and pilgrims visiting J&K can also contact it. There is no age limit, income limit, registration or fee, and calls to 14411 are free. No documents are required.

How to ask for help

  1. Keep your name, phone number and current location ready, plus a short description of what you need.
  2. Call 14411 for immediate assistance, or send a message on WhatsApp or SMS to 7082814411, or email one of the addresses above.
  3. Explain clearly what happened, where help is needed and whether it is urgent. This helps the team decide what coordination is needed.
  4. Keep your phone available afterward, since the team may call back for details or updates.

For a medical matter, keep any prescriptions or hospital papers nearby in case they help explain the situation.

What to expect

The source is careful not to promise outcomes. The helpline gives follow-up assistance “where possible”, and the help depends on the circumstances. If you are not satisfied, or your matter needs more attention, you can write to the email addresses above or use the Kashmir Operations Sector contact page.

Is it still active?

The current CRPF Madadgaar page continues to list the service as a round-the-clock helpline. Contact details can change, so check the official CRPF pages if a number does not work.

Don’t confuse it with other things

The source mentions the Yudh Samman Yojana, a separate assistance programme for former personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces. That is not Madadgaar. It also points to the Agnipath Scheme for people interested in defence recruitment.
