Documents Required

The Government Order does not specify a separate document list. You will need what the PM Surya Ghar process requires:

  • Electricity consumer (service connection) number from a recent bill
  • Mobile number and email ID
  • Bank account details with a cancelled cheque or passbook

How to Apply

You do not apply separately for the State subsidy. Follow the PM Surya Ghar process:

  1. Visit the PM Surya Ghar portal and click “Apply Now”.
  2. Select Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) as your distribution company.
  3. Enter your consumer number and mobile number to register.
  4. Submit the rooftop solar application and keep the application reference number.
  5. Wait for TNPDCL to check technical feasibility and approve.
  6. Choose a TEDA-empanelled vendor and install the system with DCR-compliant, ALMM-listed solar modules.
  7. Submit the installation details. TNPDCL installs the net meter, inspects, commissions and connects the system to the grid.
  8. Enter your bank details and upload a cancelled cheque or passbook.

How the Subsidy Reaches You

  1. REC verifies your claim and credits the central subsidy of up to ₹78,000 by DBT.
  2. MNRE shares your details with the Tamil Nadu Government.
  3. TEDA verifies your eligibility, commissioning and bank details, and uploads them through IFHRMS.
  4. The State credits its subsidy to your bank account by DBT within 7 to 15 days.

Good to Know

  • Tamil Nadu earlier supported residential solar through the Chief Minister’s Solar Rooftop Capital Incentive Scheme. The new scheme adds a top-up to the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy.
  • Since the State subsidy is capped at 1 lakh beneficiaries, applying early matters.
