Madhya Pradesh Mukhyamantri Gas Cylinder Subsidy Scheme: LPG Refills at an Effective ₹450
Cooking gas is a steady drain on a household budget. Madhya Pradesh’s Mukhyamantri Gas Cylinder Subsidy Scheme brings the effective cost of a domestic LPG refill down to ₹450 for eligible women. It is a reimbursement: you buy the refill at the market rate, and the government credits the difference to your bank account.
New registration is currently closed. The online registration link on the Ladli Behna portal is inactive, and no reopening date has been confirmed. Women who haven’t registered should check the portal periodically. The offline route at registration centres is the only working option, according to the source.
What is the scheme?
The scheme was introduced on 15 September 2023 to reduce cooking gas expenses for eligible women. It covers women registered under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana and women with LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, Madhya Pradesh, is the responsible department.
It does not provide a free cylinder or a free gas connection. It only lowers the effective refill cost to ₹450 through a subsidy.
Latest update: On 14 October 2026, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav transferred the gas refill subsidy to beneficiaries with a single click, at the Ladli Behna Yojana Sammelan in village Guruwahi, Umaria district. The transfer covered both Ujjwala consumers and non-Ujjwala women registered under Ladli Behna, against refills supplied at ₹450.

How the subsidy works
- You book and buy the refill from your gas agency at the normal retail rate.
- The oil company shares your refill billing data with the Food Department.
- The state transfers the amount remaining after deducting ₹450 into your bank account, subject to verification.
Illustration only: if the refill price were ₹900, you would effectively pay ₹450 and receive ₹450 back. The actual price and subsidy vary, so don’t treat this as a fixed figure. The credit also isn’t instant, since it follows the billing data.
Who is eligible?
- You must be a local resident of Madhya Pradesh.
- You must already be registered under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana.
- The LPG connection must be in your own name.
- Both Ujjwala and non-Ujjwala domestic connection holders qualify.
- You must be married, widowed, divorced or abandoned.
- You must be 21 or above and below 60 as on 1 January of the application year.
- Your family’s combined annual income must not exceed ₹2,50,000.
- The subsidy applies to one refill per month.
