Goa Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana: Extra Monthly Support for ST, SC, and Dhangar Students
Benefit amounts, eligibility, documents, online application steps, and the 2026-27 deadlines, which are still open.
The maintenance allowance under the Post Matric Scholarship often falls short of what students actually spend on food, travel, and daily living. The Goa Government’s Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana is designed to fill that gap with an additional monthly allowance. This post explains how it works, who can apply, and how to apply before the deadlines.
What Is the Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana?
Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana is a State Government scholarship scheme that gives extra monthly financial assistance to post-matric students from the Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), and OBC (Dhangar) communities of Goa.
The scheme does not replace the Centrally Sponsored Post Matric Scholarship. It works as a top-up over it, so only students who receive or qualify for the Post Matric Scholarship in the current academic year can claim Gagan Bharari benefits. It also offers an additional disability allowance to students with disabilities, since the disability support under the Post Matric Scholarship does not fully cover their expenses. The overall aim is to help students from these communities stay in college without financial pressure pushing them to drop out.
Two departments run the scheme: the Directorate of Tribal Welfare handles ST students, and the Directorate of Social Welfare handles SC and OBC (Dhangar) students.
