Assam Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Scheme 2.0: Up to ₹2,500 a Month for Girl Students
Assam’s Mukhyamantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni (MMNMA) gives girl students a monthly cash incentive to keep studying after matriculation. Payments range from ₹800 to ₹2,500 a month, depending on the level of study, and go directly to the student’s bank account.
What is the scheme?
The scheme encourages girls to continue their education beyond matriculation. It aims to raise girls’ enrolment in higher education, improve the state’s Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), reduce dropouts and help end child marriage. The Government announced it in the Assam Budget 2024-25 as an admission incentive for Higher Secondary, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
According to the source, it has benefited more than 6 lakh girls, and child marriage in the state has fallen by around 80%.
Latest update: The first October 2026 instalment was released on 15 October 2026. Reports say 4,39,598 girl students will benefit in 2026-27, with ₹48.22 crore earmarked for that instalment. The Chief Minister has also announced plans to expand the scheme to more universities and to include girls pursuing ANM, GNM and B.Sc. Nursing. Watch for official notifications from the Higher Education Department.
