Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana: ₹1.2 Lakh to Build a Pucca House
Odisha’s Antyodaya Gruha Yojana (AGJ) helps rural families without adequate housing build a safe, durable home. Eligible households get ₹1,20,000 in three instalments, plus an incentive for finishing construction early.
What is the scheme?
Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana is a housing scheme of the Government of Odisha, implemented by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department. It targets houseless families, families living in kutcha houses, and vulnerable households that missed out on other housing programmes.
It complements PMAY-G rather than replacing it. Households that have already received help under another rural housing scheme are generally ineligible, with a few exceptions. Ongoing work under the earlier Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY) has been merged into AGJ.
In October 2026, the scheme was extended from 2027 to 2029, with 2,91,666 additional houses approved at the same ₹7,550 crore outlay.

Key rules to know
- Build it yourself. No contractor is engaged, except where a senior citizen, person with disability or destitute beneficiary formally requests departmental support.
- Finish within 12 months of receiving the first instalment.
- Paint the scheme’s logo on the front wall of the completed house.
- Geo-tagging. The existing house is geo-tagged through the Ama Ghara app before sanction, and progress is geo-tagged at each stage.
- Female head preferred. Allotment is preferably in the name of the female head of the household.
- Landless households are allotted a house site by the Revenue Authorities on priority. Families on government land aren’t sanctioned a house until they receive land from the Revenue Department.
