Keralam Kedavilakku Scholarship Scheme
Even small education costs can strain a family’s budget, and good students from low-income households sometimes struggle to keep up. The Keralam Kedavilakku Scholarship Scheme, launched in 2023 and run by the Backward Classes Development Department (BCDD), Government of Keralam, gives eligible OBC students in Classes 1 to 8 an annual scholarship of ₹1,500 to help with school-related expenses.
Key Benefits
- ₹1,500 per year for each eligible student
- For OBC students in government and government-aided schools in Keralam
- Paid directly into the student’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account, subject to verification and approval
Who Can Apply?
- The student must belong to an eligible OBC community notified for Keralam
- Studying in Class 1 to 8 in a government or government-aided school in Keralam
- Annual family income not more than ₹2.50 lakh
- Scored at least 90% marks or an equivalent grade in the previous academic year
Academic conditions differ by class. Class 1 students are considered under a separate condition based on family income, so check the official guidelines instead of assuming one rule applies to every class. Also confirm your community’s status against the official OBC annexure available through BCDD, since the list is long.
Documents Required
- Previous year’s marksheet or grade details
- Copy of the first page of the student’s bank passbook
- Parent or guardian’s declaration confirming OBC community status and accuracy of the details
- Institution head’s certification of academic performance and application details
- Student’s Aadhaar number and bank account details
- Parent or guardian’s annual income details
The bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded for payment. Confirm with the school whether any additional certificates are needed under the latest guidelines.
