Bihar Mukhyamantri Haemophilia Yojana: Free Emicizumab Treatment for Haemophilia Patients
Haemophilia treatment is a lifelong expense, and the newest medicines are far out of reach for most families. Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Haemophilia Yojana will give haemophilia patients free access to Emicizumab, an advanced non-factor medicine, funded by the state.
Not open for applications yet. The Bihar Cabinet approved the scheme on 30 September 2026, but detailed guidelines, the application process and a helpline have not been released. Everything below reflects the announcement, and details may change once the official guidelines are issued.
What is the scheme?
The Cabinet approved the scheme on 30 September 2026, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. It is funded through the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund, and the Health Department, Government of Bihar, is expected to be the nodal agency.
Haemophilia is a rare genetic condition in which blood doesn’t clot normally. It can cause prolonged or spontaneous bleeding, easy bruising and joint pain, and patients often need costly medication for life.
Emicizumab works differently from standard clotting-factor treatments and is given less often, which can make regular care easier. It is also very expensive: a single vial costs ₹39,723, and a patient weighing around 30 kg needs 78 vials.
